The reason that we fight for the 25,000 plus men and women of Virginia D.O.C. is because we believe people are better than their worse mistake. We fight because Virginia abolished parole in 1995, leaving 1,000's to serve 85%+ of their sentences. We fight because there's men and women who have been incarcerated 20, 30, and even 40 years, who are continually denied parole despite showing rehabilitation. We fight for all the families that reach out to us exacerbated by the lack of Second Chances. We fight to educate and prepare our members with a successful return to society.
We fight because people who made mistakes need hope. The reality is that people are not born criminals. Many people come from broken households and communities where opportunity was little. So many turned to drugs and alcohol to cope with the hopeless conditions around them. Our organization fights for them because that 18-year-old who came to prison, is a different person now at 40 years old. We fight because so many so-called political leaders have committed crimes, and yet our criminal justice system writes off juveniles for making bad decisions. We fight because it's the right thing to do! Please join this fight with us and use your voice the better your family and the community around you. We love our members, and we are committed to providing a Second Chance for them. We firmly believe that Redemption is not just a word but a reality. Our best to you and yours--
