We fight because currently the majority of men and women in Virginia DOC are serving 85% of their sentence. They are not eligible for parole and those who are eligible for parole rarely if ever gets granted parole. Parole was abolished in 1995 by then Governor George Allen. So we fight to give the men and women of DOC hope. We send them newsletters to arm them with education and knowledge about laws. We have events so their families can come out and understand their loved ones situation. We fight because men and women who have done 20, 30, 40 years, have no real chance for a second chance. We fight because we all have made mistakes, and what if somebody gave up on us?
